    Hi everyone,

I just have a very simple question regarding upgrading my system's memory.

I currently have 2x2gb ddr3 1600 ram sticks in my desktop. I am wondering if I want to upgrade, can I just add ANY ddr3 memory sticks? For example, can I add a 4gb ddr3 1333 stick or a 4gb ddr3 2000 stick? Does the size or speed or the brand have to match with what I currently have?

Also, once I've bought the memory sticks, do I need to go into bios to install it?

as long as the speed is compatible with your motherboard you can use it but if you curently have 1600 and you put 1333 in the other channel it will slow all of your memory modules to 1333. you don't have to make any changes in the bios in general though sometimes if you are using overclock memory you may have to manualy adjust the memory timing to get it to max speed (1866 or 2133).
