Hello. I have motherboard: Biostar NF4ST-A9 and current RAM: 512 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM), my OS are Win XP SP2, I want add another RAM module: KINGMAX 1GB DDR PC3200 DDR400 CL 3 Retail. Question: Does Win XP will recognize summary RAM as 1.5 GB or better will be if I remove current 512 MB RAM and add to motherborad just this new 1GB of RAM?
Cik jauki redzēt kādu latvieti HWF! Laipni lūgts As for the topic, you should be able to do that (the OS won't put any obstacles in your way), but you should make sure, that you have a vacant memory slot, that the two modules will be compatible (in terms of speed, for exapmle) and that your mobo supports that specific module. well, anyway, you won't loose much if it doesn't work out - the leap from 512MB to 1GB is good as well. I personally would suggest you buy a double pack of 512mb sticks to get double data rate and 1gb. Sadly, DDR modules are quite expensive, while DDRII ones are considerably much more cheaper (my mobo supports both DDR and DDRII, so I dumped DDR and went over to 2gigs of DDRII). looks like your motherboard has xgp and pcix16 slots, and only DDR400 RAM slots. weird, man ... ; but not as weird as those hybrid things with pciex4 and agp8x slots
Does my current 512 MB RAM will support this one : Will I by 2 of those modules, summary RAM will be 1.5 Gb?
It shouldn't be a problem, and they are compatible with your motherboard. XP will recognize up to 4GB (although using up to around 3.5 with a 32-bit limitation), so 1.5GB will be fine.
