aftermarket heatsink ideas

well, i've wanted one and i've been doing tons of research for a good long time now, and i was going to go with the Thermaltake Sonic Tower, but couldn't find the Rev.2 for socket AM2. So i looked around again, and found the thermalright ultra 120, but the 120's aren't oriented the right way in AMD machines. What i was thinking, was just using the original Sonic Tower and using the clip from the stock AM2 cooler for the attachment. Also, i was looking at fans, and found this and this The only concern i have about the silverstone model, is the fan control from the board, because i really don't want to have to turn the dial up and down all the time depending on what i'm doing or have to worry about not getting a signal from the cpu fan speed or something. Thanks for any suggestions

Well, the Sonic tower is a much larger unit than the stock cooler. I'm not sure if the retention clip on the stock AM2 cooler would lock it in place securely, and if it did, would it be enough pressure to keep it in place--assuming the system it's installed in will be standing up, making the heatpipes parallel with the floor.
If it were me, I'd just look at something else rather than risk it. Your money, but I'm not too keen on having a bulky heatsink that may not be well secured in my case. But that's just me.

Yeah, all goods points, my other option was going to be Zalman, there just pricey, but oh well i guess. But those clips do seems to hold stuff down pretty good, its all that hold a 3D rocket II on my brothers 939 system, but yeah, better safe than sorry.
