I think I've had enough of Windows. I am now going to convert to Linux when nic brings Mandrake into school.
Heres the scene, *lighting goes dim* I'm working on my english presentation (which happens to be on using distributed computing) using powerpoint to do my presentation. Its in for this week and I'm working furiously to try and think of some stuff to say and present. And just like that, fucking typical of Windows, the bastard shits out on me. the PC. I think alright maybe that was a freak thing, carry on. So I carry on (thanks to autosave) and finish for the day.

Sunday morning comes and pop, my PC boots up and when the desktop loads, half of my taskbar has been chopped off, and its nothing to do with my monitor. And worse, AVG resident shield wouldn't load up, niether would zoneAlarm suite.

Then I'm thinking theres something wrong, I try to get AVG loaded up and when I do i do a full system scan for viruses. Sure enough, after 30mins of scanning, I find that I have a java .class virus in the java program cache. I try to let the scanner finish incase of anything else being there, before it does, an error pops up saying that something "bad" has happened and AVG didn't finish. So I close, restart and find the scan log, and remove the virus myself. Then my startbar comes back top normal and everything seems ok. Or so I thought. I carry on using it and then my PC restarts after a while, shit.

When its loaded, nothing seems to work right. So I decide to start again with a repair install of Windows. Put the disk in, and after numerous attempted to install to no avail I see a blue screen during XP CD boot install. This is not the BSOD. No...much much worse. (If you're finding this all too much stop reading).
Its a darker blue, one which the message seems fatal. It says somethimng like Windows has encoutnered an error and has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer and then starts saying somwe other shit. At the bottom theres an error code in hex. I try again to boot up from disc and reinstall, the same thing happens. Now I think my PC is totally :swear: :swear: :swear: up.

Thus, I now have a computer that does not work and the only one that works is the on in my hardware profile, but that i can't get connected properly to my cable modem. Thus, I have no internet at home. If I survive these next few long days without any cybersocial contact, I will try to post what i can here in my local CLC. If you don't see me posting for a while, you know why.

Most shops like HMV do 5 blanks for £5, would be a good option.

Thing you gotta remember is, the less you pay the less quality you can expect.

Yea £1 per disc is terrible. Even good brands like Verbatim have only 30p per disc, and the cheapest CDs I've seen is 16p each, and I've not had any duds yet.
