Details of what program your using would be nice?

But none the less, i presume it's firefox?

If it is, then it means that you either can't connect because you have no network connectivity or you can't open the website, because either it has timed out (taken to long to load) or the webpage you are trying to access or ftp or what not is down.

Or you've visited a url / hyper link that is no longer there anymore, but does not have a 404 error page. (404 error page is the default error page that comes up when a document is no longer on the server or you do not have access to it)

You're right ProcalX...it's Firefox...but the problem is I get these notices when everything is working fine..." operation timed out" and " program is not responding" and " this document contains no data"...as if some unknown program is running that is not displayed on the bottom bar. It always happens...and frequently...when everything is responding normally...could it be the AVG or the Ad-Ware I installed operating independantly, or some other program, or an inflitrator, that I can't see on the bottom bar? And if that's the case...how can I check to see what it is? :good:

onanothernote...when I checked the weekly scores on Cone Crazy I didn't see the usual " Egaladeist is sad :/"...where'd it go? and what smily is :/ I can't find it anywhere? :D :p

the :/ is basically: ¬_¬ a scowl .. a kind of "how typical" critisim :D

    back onto subject again..

Adaware and other bits u have loaded on will most likely not be the problem, the problem may be spyware, however i very much doubt that this would be the source of your problems.

    I would:
    - Make sure adaware is upto date
    - Make sure that if you have a firewall its configured correctly, ie disabled it and see if it makes any difference.
    - Download Spybot Search & Destroy, update and then scan.
    - Download Spyware Blaster, it intergrates and works co-operatively with Spybot S&D, to prevent it from being loaded, again update and scan.

remove any spyware you find, if that doesnt work i would uninstall FireFox, and reinstall with the latest version, you may still have the beta version. But they have a stable release out.

Yea the final release has a security issue fixed which was in the preview release.
Off topic I know but is it just me or does firefox load up a lot slower than IE?

ProcalX...I downloaded and installed all three that you suggested in another thread...and uninstalled the firewall because it wouldn't let me get on the net...probably because of something i did or a bad install...i'm pretty sure the adware program is the spybot one you told me i should install...my problem now is i have very little memory to play with...less than 30,000KB of actual memory..so i'm not sure i can download anything else that might be a memory drain...i've got a baby comp compared to you guys...only 6.04GB and 156MB memory...and because it's a 99' every comp store in town is telling me not to bother upgrading because i've got the old memory boards not the new DDM or whatever they are...the messages are more of a nuisance than a problem...they just appear at the wrong time...or they make me have to quit n' start over...like when the phone rings n' i have to quit to answer it...i think you might be right about firefox...even though i uninstalled the 1.0PR when i installed the 1.0...sometimes it takes a long time to get google...and sometimes i'm told it can't be found and have to re-click firefox to get google...

by the way...i laughed when i first saw your statement...i still think it's funny! :D :good:

alot slower!!!! i think the problems i was having with IE ( like getting into the arcade n' having to log in all the time ) has to do with my security settings...I find everything to be slower with Firefox .
    :)
