I'm having a little difficulty finding a new drive for my computer. My old one is always opening and closing on its own and it takes ages to read and burn CDs. It also isn't capable of burning DVDs.
I'm interested in buying the fastest DVD burner with good quality burning for DVDs and preferably for CDs as well. I also want to use the drive to read and play my CDs and DVDs, whether they be design software, games, movies, or old backups. I see a lot of DVD burners on newegg and tigerdirect, but I'm not certain if they'll also be effective with CDs. The ability to burn CDs isn't as important, but they must be able to at least read & play them. I plan to replace my old CD-ROM drive with the new DVD/CD Burner/Player drive. Quality is obviously important too.
Please post some suggestions. I'd like to order a new drive on Monday.

Edit: The existing drive appears to be IDE.
