Amd or Intel

    i plan on gaming and school work on my new comp. and i wanted to know if an amd athon 64 3700+ 2.2ghz, 2000 fsb, or an intel 3.4 ghz, 800 fsb, w/HT. and what particualar thing does hyper threading help with.

    AMD for anything but linear video editing. Cheaper, faster, and better -- there's no contest.

    AMD has had bragging rights with games for quite some time now, the fact they run cooler is yet another bonus. Though AMD is the fastest at everything in many tests they just prove to be a better value. HT technology helps with multithreaded apps, so the apps with think you have two processors and you'll get a little performance boost, but it's not always supported and effective.
