hello i have a problem wiv my cd (feeble files cd2) one file called voices.wav (200mb) stops copying at about 50% when trying to recover the disk onto hdd stupid question time: is there any programs out there that sorts this problem out cheers, -thicko
Ouch. Is the CD badly scratched? You can always get a CD cleaning kit(~$5) at Dollar Store(or British equivalent) and see what happens. Try putting it in other CD drives from different computers cos I once stuck in a scratched and skipping CD in another machine and it worked.
ill give that program a try no its not badly scratched at all. just a few scratched marks where a planes took off or landed on certain parts of the surface in different directions if the program no workin ill try the cleanin kit thanks
If the CD is scratched on the clear plastic side, recovery is just a matter of buffing out the scratches well enough so it doesn't diffuse the laser. On the other hand if the CD is scratched on the silk-screened side, the side with the printing on it, the disc is probably dead.
yes the scratches are on the back of the disk (laser side) any ideas on buffering it out? im currently trying out that program
A plastic buffing compound, a soft, lint-free cloth, and a lot of elbow-grease are the best way to fix a CD to nearly-new condition. If you don't have/can't get any plastic buffing compound, I actually read an article which states that they found hair styling gel to be a good buffing compound.
THANKS FOr advice i tried that program it managed to copy the file without errors allowing me to create a backup copy of the file, just hope the game works with it cheers guys
