Cant say anything about going down but they are in big loss at the moment just because of delaying this machine for the long time...and also they need to replace so many batteries in so many companies laptops...
Sony is pretty much betting their future that the PS3 is going to give Blu-Ray the edge in the HD battle. Their desperate for Blu-Ray to become the defacto standard so they can collect the royalties for what most are expecting to be the next 10-12 year period. Unfortunatley I don't see things working out quite the way their hoping, sure people will buy the PS3 to play games but most couldn't care if they're on a Blu-Ray disc or not, where that fight is coming into play is packaged movies and looking at past experiences very few people use gaming systems for DVD playback and I can't see that changing for HD. Also with the blue laser diode shortage, Sony is pretty much devoting all their supplies to the PS3, in turn cutting off their own and others standalone players which is seriously going to hurt them as far as movie sales go. While I hope Sony succeeds this time around their has been alot of screw-ups and well after all Sony hasn't exactly been known to have a great track record at getting their propietary technology into becoming the standard.
