Microsoft releases Silverlight 1.0, announces Linux support

I don't actually know what it means lol (I don't know what a ".NET development framework" is), but sounds like something people might find interesting?

EDIT: whoops, I think I should have put this thread in general chat lol

I don't want to use it. First of all, you'll need to install the Silverlight software (wich is big, compared to the easy browser plugin of Adobe Flash). And it has been made my Microsoft, a reason why some people (including me) won't use it.

It may be Microsoft's way of conceding that Linux is here to stay, and that being the case, they want to have a part in that. Okay, that may sound somewhat sinister, but I don't operate under the assumption that everything Microsoft does is evil. It's a smart move. They've been putting out programs for Macs for years (part of how they got going), so with another popular OS around, putting out a cross-platform software isn't a bad move.
I could be wrong, but this is the first piece of software Microsoft has done that's included Linux, if not from the get go.
