Im about to replace the faulty chipset fan on my Asus A8N-E and i wanted to know how much AS 5 to put on. From what i ve heard you put a dab about the size of a BB.
 
it only needs to be a very small amount, putting too much on will have the opposite effect to what is needed, you need a very thin layer placed on the chipset die, then spread it out with something like a credit card or plectrum. put the heatsink on and move it around a little bit, to spread the thermal compound around otherwise you may only get it in the centre. thas about it really, oh and what are you using to get the old stuff off? 99% isopropyl alcohol is excellent for that.
 
Well my computer still works i didnt break it woo hoo! And the North Bridge is running about the same temp as it was before at 41*C (no more buzzing noise yeah!) but It will probabaly cool more when the AS 5 settles (it does take time to settle and get optimal cooling from the AS 5 right). Its a hassle having to take out the whole motherboard thought to get that northbridge fan(on mine you have to push these little things out on the bottom of the MoBo). Oh and those pictures where superb thanks a bunch.

My room also feels hotter than normal i think that might be contributing to the heat, cause when i have it cold in here it will run way cooler than that.
(normal room 35*C-CPU cold room 29-30*C-CPU)
 
how long is the break in period for this stuff. I found that the MX-1 has a break in of 200 hours (about 8 days) is this stuff the same.
 
blimey that is a big drop, yeah the burn in period is usually around the same amount for thermal compounds but even if it isnt then it'll drop eventually
