Are there any issues with building an XP harddrive on one machine and using it on another?

My mom's computer is having a lot of issues (basically its locked up with viruses). Since doing phone support would do serious damage to our relationship, I asked her to mail me her hard drive so that I could recover all her data and make a new fresh hard drive for her to use. My question is that I have a quad-core rig that I put together myself about 2 years ago and hers is a 4 year old machine that is possibly single core. I will be staying with Win XP as the OS because that's what she's been using and its what she has a license for.

My question:
Is there anything I should take into account when building a new hard drive (OS, Antivirus, Software) on one machine and transferring it to another? It'll be the primary bootable disk.

This will not work, The drivers for your pc and your moms are different, If both where the exact same motherboards , then it would work..
