...ok got the SP2 CD today, installed it on my downstairs PC (the one I'm using to type this). Works fine. Install it on my PC, and the bast...machine freezes. I get it installed, and just when it restarts, the "Windows XP" Logo appears - the "Home Edition" has disappeared, it freezes. The blue bar gets half way up, and stops. Waited ten minutes, nothing. Restarted. Same problem again. Any ideas? Stupid CD..can't just work, can it?
Oh yeah - I checked out microsoft, mentioned "repairing the installation". Too bad it asks for the Administrators Password. Given that I never set up a password, as only I use this computer, what is it? And how do I get pass this screen? Thanks.
Hit ENTER, if you have not entered a passoword just leave it blank! Well, thats how I got past it anyways
yeah that worked but for some reason Windows can't find the files necessary to uninstall SP2. So I've installed XP again on my other partition and am going to leave it for now. And I just got my network working perfectly. "Install SP, it's way better with security"....yeah its great - I can't access the net on my networked PC's. No worries of hackers now....
