I currently have two systems in the same room: A8N32SLI deluxe bios v1205 BFG 7800GT OCZ 1G RAM 200Gig SATA HD Antec truepower 550W Antec p180 Case 4 Fans These two systems are 100% identical in everyway, including the case. NOTHING different. Same graphics, ram, case, cpu, fans, power supply, same bios, etc, etc..... These two computers are in the same room! System #1 MB temp = 39 C System #2 MB temp = 49 C CPU temp is 40 C on both systems. Any thoughts?
Temp sensors aren't particularly reliable on motherboards, and both temps are well within reason. Sensors on a motherboard are typically calibrated due to the position. While the BIOS may be reading the on-die temp sensor of the CPU, the motherboard sensor may be different. Also take into account any BIOS changes relating to voltage, as well as if the nForce 4 SLI x16 chipset is the same revision. Another mitigating factor is the location of the system. Again, given the highly variable motherboard temp sensor, I really wouldn't be all that concerned.
Im out of touch with everything since the prescott came out but I know that most motherboards then used to have the temp sensor behind the board. It could be something as simple as a cable preventing the air flow on the higher temp comp. Im assuming the intake and exhaust fans are all setup the same?
The two systems are both in a Antec P180 Case. This case has 4 120mm fans. Hard drive & Powersupply are in a seperate chamber with a 120mm fan. Well, I have had this second system for about 1.5 weeks.. Everything seems perfect. I guess MB temp. on the Asus A8N32SLI motherboards vary from board to board.
