Asus BIOS updating...

I've tried to update the BIOS of my Asus motherboard, but the updater utility on the asus website doesn't work with Vista even though they say it's for "all OS" note that I changed my search criteria to Vista 64 bit... :O Help would be much appreciated.

why exactly would you want to flash your BIOS, if you have a power failure while flashing you could end up with a mobo that is a v v pretty paperweight[ot]dead[/ot]
 
What do you mean by "flashing" ? My BIOS version is 1407 and at present there is the 1901 for it, I need to update it.
 
Well because my ram is at a frequency that I can get from my mobo only if I update it at least to 1701... Other than that, I've always updated my BIOS without an issue.
 
The BIOS flasher of ASUS is a DOS program. You'll have to get the bios file on a floppy and at POST, you must enter a shortcut (something like shift+f2). Then it should ask for a floppy with the flash image. Look in the manual of the mobo for instructions. And always make a backup of the bios, if possible.
 
I ran across a post somewhere here today that mentioned Asus website being updated. Weather that has anything to do with this problem, I don't know. Also, Vista is pretty new, so the software may not be quite tuned to it.
If all else fails, you can use the floppy method to flash your BIOS.
