    Hi there

I have an ASUS F3Ja notebook, I was wondering if anyone has upgraded the memory in one before and whether they would be able to offer me some guidance.

how much RAM does it have now?
what is the confguration of you current RAM ? (e.g. 2 sticks of 512Mb or 1 stick of 1Gb)[ot]if you have 2 sticks of 512Mb you will have to remove 1 stick and replace it with a 1Gb stick, giving you a total of 786Mb[/ot]or if you have 1 stick of 1Gb you can populate the spare socket with another 1Gb stick[ot]but be v v careful choosing the RAM you purchase, as mathing new RAM with you existing RAM is very difficult for most people[/ot]use PCWizard to identify your current RAM

BTW: you did the right thing, asking for advise first:good:

    Hi there

Thankyou for replying your words of caution are very warranted, just before your post to this thread I had just managed to make the installtion of a new RAM stick. I originally had two 512MB now I have a Corsair 1GB and one of the original 512 sticks. A massive improvement in performance already!! You are right about mating the RAM correctly, for info on this I went to Corsair's website and used their online tool to figure out what I needed and they were 100% on the money. The RAM stick worked on the first start. Once again thankyou for posting a reply as it was still reassuring.
