    Hey everyone,

I recently acquired an Asus K8N-E Deluxe motherboard. It worked without problems with my Radeon 9600 and two sticks of ram - a Kingston ValuRam 266 256MB and a Kingston ValuRam 400 512 MB.

I wanted to upgrade the memory, so I purchased two sticks of Samsung 1GB PC3200 400FSB DDR. I'm having some really weird problems getting this to work, and they're not consistent. I disconnected all cards except the video card, installed a new CMOS battery, and reset the CMOS in order to reduce extraneous errors. I will refer to the sticks as 512, 1024a and 1024b.

At first, booting with only 512, which booted up normally, and reported a memory speed of 200MHz. No other combination of 512, 1024a or 1024b worked, in any number, any order, any position, with one exception, with 1024b in slot 1 and 512 in slot 2. This booted up normally, with the memory speed at 133mhz. This only worked once.

Once, when I managed to boot into the bios with 512 in position 1, I manually set the memory speed to 400MHz. Then I installed only 1024a in slot one, where it booted up, and showed only the message "IRBBH353-0: R9600 256M/128B CRTTVDVI-I 203M/324E", which, when googled, only returns one site: techPowerUp! :: VGA Bios Collection: HIS 9600 Non-Pro 256 MB.
    I couldn't reproduce this either.

I'm totally at a loss here, since I don't know what the problem is. I've tried two different power supplies. Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.
