Dear Hardware forums, I just recently encountered a problem with my motherboard I believe. Not exactly sure if it's the board, or something else. However whenever I boot the computer up, 99% of the time it powers on like "normal" but the catch is nothing comes up on my display. However, Num Lock and Windows boots up. The issue is, I can't see anything on my display. However, I do notice the only way to resolve this issue is by taking out the case fan from the 3 port pins on the motherboard and then try turning it on, or taking some piece of hardware that's connected to the power supply and then reconnected it for example my video card and the machine boots up with with display, it doesn't always have to be the video card though, sometimes the the pin connectors for the fan. A friendly computer store told me that it's probably my motherboard that's the issue, and I think I'm to blame because I accidentally pulled the case fans out once while the machine was running but it continued to run normal until one night it rebooted for windows updates please help >.<

The situation sounds fishy; what's the make and model of your power supply? If in doubt, please take a picture of the large sticker on the side and post it here.

Okies ^-^ my power supply is a Rocket Fish Model No: RF-700W pS, also I'd like to add that today when i got home i had my computer turned off, and yet again it wouldn't boot and each time i do turn it on my video card fan stays on full blast and i can hear windows log in and everything but no video. so i fooled around, switched the card to a new pci port and it booted up fine.

Interesting. There could be a problem with the motherboard, like the people at the computer shop suggested. There's no really straightforward way to look for problems on your motherboard in the technical sense aside from troubleshooting all the way around it, and eliminating other parts as the culprit. However, you can use your eyes and nose to identify some of the more obvious forms of motherboard failure. If you want to give it a go, take off the side panel and examine the motherboard with a flashlight (careful not to touch anything; you might get a shock and/or damage your system!). What you are looking for is:

    1. Bad capacitors,
    2. scorch marks, broken solder joints, other obvious damage,
    3. smell of ozone and/or sulfur (ever smelled a battery when it goes bad?) or electrical fire,
    4. loose heatsyncs,
    5. fans which do not turn,
    6. cards, power connectors or anything else that's not seated properly.

Okay, so I checked everything that you listed. Seems to be fine, interesting thing is now since I've changed the video card to the new PCI-express slot it hasn't been having issues when turning on. :3
Hopefully the issue is resolved, i just have no idea what caused it >.<
