I am building a comp for a family member just wanted to know if this is a good processor i want some real user reviews is it overclockable? does it overheat is it reliable post your thoughts please thanks
I'd search for a 2500+ barton, run it on pc3200 ram and you've got a 3200+ and the temps are good even with the cheap heatsink I have.
Theres nothing wrong with it but a 2500+ is much better at oc'ing, it didnt even know you could still get 2400's! Last i heard about one of these someone got it to about 2.15Ghz i think.
thats what i currently have now, but i am upgrading to a athlon 64 3000+ venice(its in the mail now, actually). If you really want to overclock, go with the venice (its practically made for it. you can overclock an extra 1ghz without any problem. its pretty cheap too. i got mine at 180 canadian
Well I have an athlon 64 3400+ i just wanted to know if this processor was overclockable because i know my cousin which is recieving this processor will want to overclock
yeah, no problem but like i said, Last i heard about one of these someone got it to about 2.15Ghz i think. thats a fairly decent OC, could prob go higher with the right HSF/RAM/MOBO combo!
thanks, i hope he likes it also got him a highly overclockable mobo MSI motherboard K7N2G was gonna get a LAN party NF2 ultra b but the MSI was cheaper
the cpu should be good for him , depending on what he's using it for. but aparently you can overclock the 2400+ a bit, which is cool. but like i said, if you dont have it ordered yet and want more bang for your buck, go with a venice core processor. they are among some of the cheapest cpu's (got my athlon 64 3000+ venice for 180 canadian) and can overclock to about 2.6ghz BEFORE you even get any heat problems. even higher if you have a good cooling setup. the 2400+ should be good though
