Hi everyone, new here with a problem. I recently purchased an ATi HD3650 AGP card, so I could pay Hitman: Blood Money. The card meets all the requirements for the game, but keeps crashing during play. I think it is the card crashing, because when it does, the screen just freezes for a couple of secs, then my display loses signal for about 30 secs and comes back on with just a black screen. Meanwhile, the sound from the game continues to play, but my Num Lock button doesn't work - it just stays on. So I hit the reset button and try again. It's not only this game it happens on, but several others (older games) too. My configuration: ASRock K7S41 BIOS revision 2.60 AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2.1GHz 1GB DDR400 ATi HD3650 AGP Any help in resolving this matter would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
With your old graphics card, none of this happens correct? If so, there is a good chance, that the new graphics card is causing the problem. Does it crash straight away or after X amount of play time? What PSU are you using?
No, it never happened before, I used to play GTA on this PC all the time and it never did this. There isn't a specific amount of time until it happens, I have managed to get through most of the game so far, sometimes it will let me play a level before crashing. The level I am on now, I can't even get inside the building at the beginning. I don't know about PSU, all I know is I am using two. One to power the drives, and one for everything else. It seems to just be 3D stuff it crashes on too, I can boot into Vista and have Aero running for many hours without any problem. I have tried the game on both Vista and XP and the problem is the same.
What are the temps like on your CPU and graphics card? Have you already tried updating graphics drivers?
I'm not sure about GPU temperatures, CPU temp stays in the 40s even under full load. When my CPU get too hot, the motherboard automatically shuts itself off, it never does it anymore after I put more fans in and left the side off. The driver version I got with the card was 8.5, but after having this problem I tried upgrading the driver. I found a 9.1 version with AGP hotfix, which is what I am using now.
