this is not an entirely dependable article but it does provide some evidence that Ati is having trouble pursuing the battle with nvidia and their new 7800 line, which has made a tremendous hit on the market and petrified Ati :swear: read over at the post http://omid.tomshardware.com/ or another article i posted on a different thread comparing 7800benchmarks to other cards http://www.tomshardware.com/column/20050622/index.html
Nice finds dude, I'm sure ATI can rekindle the fires though, otherwise they're going to be one hurting unit after nVidia starts to own the graphics market again. I still want to wait and see for my self what the R520's in a CrossFire config can do compaired the a SLIed GTX duo.
Nothing too serious, sometimes the market can turn into a cat and mouse game. when ATi release their counterpart to the G70 then it will be even or so again.
yeah but the 7800 can be sli'ed and nvidia is currently working on the crossfire X850 and cards like that, its a shock to get a card that performs 40% better and can be sli'ed
But I don't think the 7800GT and 7800 vanilla are SLIable from what I've heard, that would hurt a little if it's true.
I guess that'll depend on how far down nVidia wants SLI to go. I mean, they just recently okayed SLI-ing the plain 6600's (that weren't previously SLI okay). With SLI boards supposed to be available below $100, I'd say that it wouldn't make nearly as much sense to have only the most expensive stuff SLI-able. It really doesn't make a lot of sense based on the direction nVidia seems to be going: affordable SLI.
yeah that would be great, I remember when it first came out a board cost almost $200 and you could only use a 6800GT or Ultra, talk about restrictive. Heck eventually the 6200 will go SLI ready.
I'm not sure on that one considering how close of a price point it is to the 6600's and the fact that even with them in SLI, they'd still be terrible. To a certain point, SLI is good, but I can't see the 6200's being SLI'd. I don't think nVidia would make much off of it. I think they know their target market, and I don't think that they see the 6200's as being a wise SLI solution. They've made use of PCIe by implementing the TurboCache solution, and I think that'll be the only real change we'll be seeing to the 6200's. It's like putting in a high-performance air filter in a Yugo to get an extra few MPG out of it...why? Solitare won't benefit from SLI.
thats why it was a smart move for ati to put multiple frame rendering technologies into everythin since the X300, but they never used its power until now!!!!!!! :x: :x: :x: :x: :x: :x: :x: :x:
Yeah, you're probably right BB, it would only appeal to those that don't know how bad the 6200 really is, in comparison anyway. Multiple frame rendering? Sounds interesting.
