Hexus has an exclusive low-down on ATi's Multi Video Processing (MVP) tech. Having developed military solutions based on up to 32 cards in the past, it appears that ATi has decided on a ‘tile’ based rendering approach as the default technology and perhaps the judgement was that this method offers the most ideal balance of speed and image quality (minimum size 32 pixels square). However it’s more than likely that the ATi MVP solution will be flexible to offer other rendering modes like AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) as well. There's more over here
Interesting, they took a tile-rendering approach. That didn't work out well for 3DFX back in the day (perhaps that's why 3DFX/NVidia is using alternating frame rendering with SLi now?). Of course, it could be that they've figured out some cool new algorythm in the course of fulfilling their military contracts. -AT
wonder how the "dongle" looks like, and if the ati chipset has enough force other than video processing to rival the nforce, because the last chipset lagged in everything else compared to the nforce 4 ultra
