My system is a HP Pavilion ZD8460ea. My original battery is a 14.4VDC 2.0Ah. This battery is available directly from HP. However HP also list two other batteries that can be used in this system. One rated at 14.8VDC 6.0Ah and the second at 14.8VDC 6.6Ah. When I search online I never see the 14.4VDC 2.0Ah battery even if I search under the part number of the original battery which is HP Part #374762-001. Most times what you find is HP Part #DP390A. If you speak with HP customer support they will always refer you to the original battery. I have sent them too D__N many emails and have yet to receive an answer to my question. After 30 plus emails I finally got them to refer me up the line to a case manager but as yet have not heard from them. I have more questions I want answered than just about batteries. Can someone please explain to me the advantages/disadvantages of using one in lieu of the other and tell me which one is best? Also I see reference to high power batteries so I want to know if anyone can point me in the right direction so I can check these batteries out. I have looked at too many sites and I don't really see much in the way of claims about one battery being better than another. I have read the battery guide and followed the links to the Battery University but I don't see answers to these questions. All these are 12 cell Lithium-Ion. Also while I'm asking there are many manufacturers of batteries. How is the average end user supposed to identify who makes quality batteries and if they will work if purchased. Thanks, John
sorry personally don't know much about laptop batteries but does seem like you spending quite a bit on your old laptop, you might want to look into netbooks Generally speaking getting the battery from the original manufacture should give longer batter life and keep the laptop in warranty but don't think yours is anymore
