battery

    :good: Hi all
    i am a new member and this is my first thead and i hope some of your experts out there can help i have replaced the battery in the board and when it powers up all i get is something about emos what do i do !
    please help phil

    By "emos" I'm assuming you mean CMOS. I'm also assuming you replaced the Lithium BIOS battery in the machine for one you know works. Correct?

    Assuming the above is true then you would expect to get an error message. When you take out the old (dead?) battery the CMOS will be cleared and reset and any settings you have entered will be lost. When you reboot you should get an error message telling you that the power to the CMOS was lost (or something similiar). This is expected and not a problem, all you need to do is to enter setup again and re-configure the BIOS as it will no longer have any information about your hard-drives, etc. So unless you're getting a different error and are unable to enter setup then this is nothing to worry about.
