Where: Alibaba (Trading Website) Listing (alibaba.com) Who: Bdi Technologies Payment: PayPal How Much: $865.00 USD What: PSPs Scammers e-mail: [email protected] Scammers Fake Name: John Mendesa This sucks. Can't believe I actually got scammed. I'm usually pretty good with these things. They accepted PayPal! What the hell! DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE THAT SAYS PAYPAL IS SAFE FOR PAYMENTS OUTSIDE OF EBAY I filed a dispute with PayPal, and it was decided in my favor, but they said they couldn't get anything from the seller's account! This was there response... "We have completed our investigation of this case. We attempted to process a refund from the seller's account to your account. Unfortunately, the seller's account does not contain the funds necessary to cover this refund. We were able to recover $0.00 USD. We have taken action against the seller and are working to recover the remainder of your refund. We will contact you when we have more information. No further action is required of you at this time." This scammer will obviously never make a deposit in his FAKE account. I thought payPal would be able to withdraw the funds from the seller's bank account. That's not the case; the seller has to have money in his/her PayPal account to be able to receive anything. Anyone can be scammed using PayPal, all someone has to do is open an account, scam, get the funds transferred to their bank account, then close the account. Has anyone been through this situation, what should I do Is there a website that handles cases like this that can get my money back? I want to get his ip address...
Was it part of GoDaddy.com? MotionNET.com? If nothing else I would report it to... Juno Internet Service- Value-priced Internet Service Provider - ISP - Free, low-cost and fast Internet Access obviously they would have info on him if he's using their services/e-mail accounts.
what was? he didn't have a website, but I did come across BDI Canada Inc. One of the addresses was the exact same as the one in the scammers company listing I contacted this BDI website about this, no response It was most likely someone posing as someone from BDI I'm trying to get his ip address, maybe i can report it to authorities?
What do you think they can do? I'll try asking them for this guys ip address, but I doubt they would give it to me since I'm sure it will violate one of their privacy policies
If he's using juno.com's services then Paypal can get the info from them...privacy policies do not cover criminal action...this doesn't fall under privilege/confidentiality...all Paypal needs is juno's cooperation...and as long as they're not involved in the scam...I can't see them denying the request.
This is the WHOIS... in the future do a WHOIS ' before ' you do business...this would have warned you right off.
oh wait, Alibaba is a trading website directory, it has nothing to do with Bdi Technologies The scammer didn't have a website I mentioned Alibaba because thats where I found his fake company listing
OK...so...this is like an e-bay site...so...call the host using the numbers provided and see what you can do to retrieve your funds.
Through Alibaba Manufacturer Directory - Suppliers, Manufacturers, Exporters & Importers, (its a trading website directory) i saw his company post, and said they sell PSPs, and that they accepted PayPal All communication was done through Alibaba Didn't hesitate too much, since he accepted PayPal (i've heard payPal is the number 1 source for making online payments because of their protection...bull) After a few e-mails through Alibaba, i told him to send me an invoice, he did, and thats where i saw his e-mail address
Ive been done out of £230 with paypal. It is grim!! First time was something I sold someone. I know they received the item cos I sent it recorded delivery but then they filed a complaint to paypal saying I hadnt sent it. I refused to give them a refund, emptied my paypal account but paypal took the money from my bank! It was only £12 but I got done. The other £215 is a long story, but I bought an iRiver pmp140 from some guy saying he was in the UK. He was in America. The thing arrived with a smashed screen. It still worked, it was a protective screen. So I contacted the seller who sent UPS round to pick it up and see if they thought they had damaged it. They concluded they hadnt (which was fair enough cos the box was fine) and sent it back to America without telling me. I got a quote from iRover, the screen would have cost 12 euro to fix :| I just wanted someone else to pay the 12 euro! When it arrived in America they had to pay impert tax (so UPS told me) which they refused to pay so UPS binned it. The seller wouldnt send me a new iRiver so I got onto paypal who basically did an investigation and said that because I accepted the item from UPS they couldnt do anything, which is bollocks IMO! I used to deliver the post and there is no way I would have stood there waiting for people to open post and give me a nod! Paypal does stink, but ive done well over 500 transactions through paypal and only had 2 bad experiences. Their fees are another matter though. Even for the type of payment method paypal is they are still expensive.
Yea, i contacted them to see if they can give me his ip address, but didn't include the breach of terms thing; but that doesn't matter since they can only release that type of info. to authorities So i guess I have to report it to police, and they'll get all the info from Alibaba...i dont know... i don't think the police will even bother doing anything
They can release the info to anyone they want...the internet is not bound by any confidentiality laws...the same rights do not apply as a lawyer/client privilege...it's just that if they breach their own privacy policy then people will not trust their infomation to them I'd still give it a go...the worse that can happen is you're right back where you are.
Yea I am, I'm just deciding where to go from here, whether to contact my local authorities, or wait and try to find the ip address and contact that city's authorities, or find a website that handles stuff like this I'm just undecided how I should go about doing this
