http://swg-planet.com/procalx/pafiledb/pafiledb.php (bare in mind this is still in development and only has a few files on atm)

    check out benchmarks section..

    AquaMark3 for Gaming performance
    SuperPi for CPU calculations

    Later today i should have PCMark04 (All round benchmarking utility) & 3DMark01SE / 3DMark03 / 3DMark05

Download 3DMark01SE do a complete test and dont change any of the default options its set to, then do All the tests, and post your score in the 3DMark01SE Braggin Rights thread..

benchmarking shouldn't be taken seriously. A comp that get's twice the points may get half the FPS as another system. Mostly depends on drivers/configuring/system. You can tweak all of those and get very different points. I think it's a waste of time and shoudln't really be used as comparison. But that's just me, some people live by benchmarks

Ninja is right benchmarks are not worth worrying about, although if you build a computer using quality parts.. and you run the right benchmarks then you will be given a good idea of how your computer is performing compared to others.

There's no point being disappointed in your systems benchmark results in a 3D Benchmarking program (ie gaming performance) if you have a rubbish graphics card.. like for example a TI4200 (mine).

A benchmark for me thats more appropriate is really PCMark04 which benchmarks the processor and memory, as i do alot of video encoding.

I don't need the system i've got at all.. its much to powerful for what i use it for as a whole, but I sold my old computer and built this one for £50 more.. and the difference in speed is some what larger! So its justifiable, there have been a noticeable increase in ethusiasts, ie people who just add / upgrade components so its the best all of the time.. or just so that they can run distributed projects faster, or so that they can beat their friends in benchmarks.

So when or if you get to this point, stop, think.. "what am i going to use this for?"
