Ok well I already preordered Doom 3 and cant wait for it to come out. I was reading review and a few reporters said the machines they tested it on had Geforce FX5900 cards in the machine. So I'm debating I'm not into hard core either Nvidia or Radeon. I've always had Nivida currently a TI4800. So what would be the best card for me do you think if i like to play games and what a awesome card. When I saw Radeons site I was looking at the 9800TX but didnt look over the Nvidia line that much, so they have a lot of tech info and my head stated to hurt to compare them. If anyone has a quick and easy break down please let me know what you guys feel would be the best over all!! Thanks Joel
I would have to say the 9800XT because it has better DX9 implementation, better image quality and better performance with AA and AF turned on. However, seeing that you have a Ti4800 which can still play all the games out there, you may wanna' wait 'til the next gen of cards to come out - supposed to be in April - (R420/NV40). You could then decide to dish out the money for the best of the best or get a 9800XT or Pro for cheaper. EDIT: Moving this thread in the Graphics card forum
The GeForce FX cards are actually pretty decent, but the main issue is the DX9 support, and ATi has the advantage there. The GFFX DX9 problem isn't something that's going to be fixable with a driver update, so if you want an nVidia with proper DX9 support, you'll have to wait until the next GeForce hits.
