Ok, so I went to go turn on my computer today and durring bootup it blue screened on me. So, I was like WTF? It got stuck in a boot loop as soon as it hit the windows logo. I attempted to start the computer in safe mode, but it blue screens on crcdisk.sys, I ran some hardware diagnostics and found that 3 of the 4 RAM sticks I have are bad! I removed all three and the computer boots, I put any of the three back in and it doesn't boot, just gets stuck in the boot loop. Another problem arose, in the BIOS I it states that my processor is running at 667MHz, when in fact it is running at 2.66GHz, confirmed by CPU-Z. I have attempted to manually set it back to 266x10, but it still states that the CPU is running at 667MHz, windows also says this. It used to state that the CPU was running at 2.66GHz. What can I do to correct this? System specs: CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66GHz MB: DFI LanParty ICFX3200 T2R/G RAM: Crucial Ballistix DDR2-800 4x1GB Graphics: ATI2900 XT 1GB GDDR3 Sound: Creative X-FI HD: 150GB 10kRPM SATA raptor OS: Vista Ultimate 64bit I have already attempted to reset the BIOS, reset it again, I pulled the battery, let it sit for 22 minutes without power from the PSU or battery, I also did the reset jumper but no difference. The ONLY thing I can think of is to update the BIOS, but that is a pain as I have no floppy drive and windows updater doesn't work in Vista 64bit  I am running 4/26/2007 BIOS. The strange thing is that it USED to see the correct speed until this happened. The only other note I can think of is that when I powered up the machine after changing out the CPU I got a checksum error. I kept getting it, but a reset of the BIOS cleared that right up. The computer used to have an E6600 OC'ed to 2.99GHz. Anyways, any help would be great, thanks in advance!
try doing a long BIOS reset, basically, remove the power from your system & move the jumper and leave it in the reset position for an hour & then move the jumper back, this is rare, but it can happen because sometimes there may some residual power left, usually that's not the case , but, a long BIOS reset tends to fix it
This did not solve it. I've also attempted to set the clock speed manually at 266x10(2.66GHz), but it still states the clock speed is set to 66x10(667MHz). The CPU voltage is set to 1.21volts right now as I want to get it to read the proper speed before I overclock it. :O
