have the Big Water 745 system and its not giving me the best temps. It may be the CPU block isnt on right but i dont think so. The only accesories for it i have are the T-line temp indicator and koolance flow indicator. The loop goes like this- pump>flowind.>t-line temp indic>240MM rad>CPU block>GPU block>Reservior. All parts are stock. What could i upgrade that would give me the best results. Pump? waterblock? any answers are appreciated and i really am sorry for all the posts. I really did appreciate Big B's and others answers just havent seen them till now as the email notification isnt working
The key to watercooling is how much water is moved. Off hand, I don't know how many gallons per hour (gph) the stock pump moves, but I seem to remember 300gph being a good number. If the waterblock doesn't allow for efficient flow, it'll hamper the system. The system works with a dual 120mm fan-based radiator, correct? If not, then that could be an issue from a dissipation standpoint.
The stock pump shoots out 400 l/hr which is less than 300GPH. The waterblock from what i heard is not restrictive. Im wondering what would give me better performance. New pump/reservior or waterblock. If its the pump, could some one give me a good, cheap pump? waterblock ill just get the apogee. Wouldn't it be best to just get an upgrade to the block first and see where that gets you? That way if it turns out to be the pump you can rest assured that you've got a waterblock that is up to par. I also find it strange that you would think it's your pump before your radiator. I haven't got a whole lot of experience with liq cooling, but it would seem to me that as long as you have a decent flow after your accessories then I would worry about how much heat is comming out of that coolant. You could have all the flow in the world but if no heat is dissappated then that flow is doing you no good. After looking at the system as long as it's solid it should be fine. I would still get a new waterblock and reseat it with some as-5. Also did you just decide not to use that 120mm rad it comes with? Another thing I would do (this is me personally) is put the flow ind. in the line right before the cpu block just because that is where the flow really matters and the flow that comes from the end of your accessories is different from the flow that comes out of your pump.
I have the Big Water installed and it gives me pretty reasonable temps.... I got mine: pump > cpu > 120mm internal rad > 120mm x 2 external rad > reservoir > pump All the stock parts as well, the pump has a flow rate of 400 l/hr This gives me decent temps on my 6400+ oc'd to 3520MHz and 1.45v I have noticed that the fans on the external rad are a lot slower than the internal rad fan as well, and the internal rad fan is quite noisy as well, I'm waiting for a new fan to fit to the internal rad to quiten it a bit.... its not unbearable but its quite a lot noisier than the 120mm front case intake fan I got installed.... so if you are only using the twin 120mm radiator with the slower fan speeds this may account for your higher temps....
