bios error 3

    Hello there Im new to the hardware forums . Ive got a asrock K7VM2 , AMD 2200+ cpu 256 DDR mem using XP Home . At the moment the bios is v1.3 which is fine at the moment but I want to update it to the latest version v1.9 which Ive downloaded from the asrock website and followed the instructions , but I keep getting an ERROR 3 message . WHY?

    whats the full error message you get? or is it just Error 3?

    are you sure have have the correct bios and also you are doing this through DOS or Win XP?

    Its the latest bios from the manufacturys website , not sure about the second question but I booted from the floopy drive and had to put the flash type after the A:/ prompt so I take as in DOS.

    If you're getting errors only after updating your BIOS, then it follows that the update is not compatible with your mobo. Check the Revision number on your mobo and see if it matches the BIOS Update you are trying to load. Some updates are released specifically to correct mobo revisions even though they have the same mobo model. Good luck.
