I'm looking to buy a new cpu, motherboard (preferably with on board graphics for now) and some ram. I have about 400, and this is what i have so far: cpu- Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! ram- Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more! what i need is a nice motherboard, as it is i have about 130 left. I'm looking on newegg right now for the motherboard (and a cheap graphics card if i have to) any comments on what i picked out, or suggestions on what i should get, would be greatly appreciated. and if you guys don't like this set up at all, please feel free to post your picks that could fit within this particular price range. Thank you, ~Joe
So you only need cpu, ram, mobo, and graphics? I'm going to have to assume you have a chassis, psu, hdd somewhere else? And not that it matters to me really but since when does a budget pc have a $189 cpu? It would also help us, when looking, to know why you are building the computer. For gaming, internet surfing, term papers, overclocking? What operating system you are going to run is also helpful to know when choosing hardware. But none of that really matters to me so here's a motherboard. It's a pretty good all-purpose motherboard. Newegg.com - ABIT IP35V LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail This motherboard was chosen for a few different reasons. ABIT - enough said? I like ABIT's quality and have had very good past experience with their products. I also wanted to find a motherboard with 4 RAM slots and expandable to 8 gigs. This is very helpful if you're going to want this to be a gaming machine. I also wanted to find a motherboard with 4 RAM slots and expandable to 8 gigs. Only downside is the lack of onboard graphics Here is the graphics card I chose. Newegg.com - MSI NX7300LE-TD256EH GeForce 7300LE 256MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail PCI express x16 Nothing special - you said you could upgrade the graphics later right? And its still better than what you'd end up with onboard. All told, it comes out to just under $400 (without tax or shipping). I hope this is what you're looking for. Like I said, its difficult to choose since I dont know what you're doing with it and whether or not you have other parts.
