Budget digital camera for christmas

I want a digital camera this christmas, and I've been looking around and have found that the [google]Fujifilm Finepix A500[/google] seems good. Its 5.1MP, and seems good value for money. I'd like decent macro quality too, which the camera seems to fit the bill.

Any opinions on it, or suggestions for a better one around that price, not much over it. :confused:

Nikon and Sony are nice too, but if that Fuji is like my ex-gf's Finepix A400 (4MP), it's going to be a pretty sweet buy.

Yes, its the same as the A400 but apart from the resolution, I might buy it then.

I've not used this camera but just going by some reviews I've read this camera seems like an excellent buy.

Ive gotta agree that Canon just stomp everybody at making cameras, beit digital or 35mm. I dont think they do anything else. Even the high end lenses give preferred results over the german ones.
