    Hello all!

New here and hoping to find some feedback on a new computer I am looking to put together. It has been a few years since I have last put one together and look to seek advice from people here far superior in knowledge than I. I am also looking to build this computer as cost effective as possible. So here it goes:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600, Dual Core, 2.4 GHz, 2MB
    ProdukteDetails2

    Asus P5KPL-VM, mATX, Intel G31, Socket 775, VGA, 1333FSB
    ProdukteDetails2

    Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400, 2x1GB, DDR2-800, CL5
    ProdukteDetails2

    XpertVision GeForce 8600GTS, PCI-E, 256MB GDDR3
    ProdukteDetails2

    Western Digital Caviar GP, 7200rpm, 16MB, 500GB, SATA-II
    ProdukteDetails2

Arctic Cooling Midi-Tower Silentium T2 Pro, silber
    ProdukteDetails2

    Lite-On LH-20A1L, 20x DVD±RW, DL, LS, schwarz, SATA
    ProdukteDetails2

Is there anything wrong with this setup compatability wise etc? Where is my bottleneck? Anything I should do in order for this setup to run optimally? I plan on using only a single graphics card with win xp on this system and it's just for basic home use and games nothing major if that helps at all.

Additionally, would I be able to use the following case to save money and not have any problems with performance or stability?

    L-Case Duro-1, Midi-Tower, black/silver, 400Watt
    ProdukteDetails2

Lastly, what about using the following CPU instead? How much will going from a 2MB cache to 1MB cache affect this setup? Will I notice anything?

    Intel DUAL-Core E2200, 775P,800MHz,1MB,65nm,Fan,BOX Conroe, 2.2GHz, SpeedStep, I64bit, NX
    Online

Please let me know how and where I could improve this system if at all without significantly raising the price for I am on a very tight budget. Thanks in advance for any and all help and look forward to your feedback! :)

    Welcome to forums :)

As i gathered you want to keep costs down will for starter you should ditch the E4600 and get the E4500 instead, to save you some money. It has the same spec as the E4600 apart from the speed which is 2.2GHz rather then 2.4GHz. Well you can OC the E4500 to 3GHz with ease.

As for mobo i don't think you should get the one you chose it's not very good. I recommend this mobo as i have it my self and it's a P35 chipset which makes it very good at OC.

    Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R

Also i think you should increase memory to 4GB to make it more future proof

Try and get a 8800GT rather then a 8600GT that's if you decide on playing more intense games :p

If you want to get the E2200 there would not be a huge difference in performance, i have the E2160 and it's a great CPU. So overall i would say go for the E2200 rather then E4500 to save money.
