I would go with the 6600GT, the 6600GT blows the 9800pro away. Crucial ballistix has tighter timings, less latency but very expensive. case, power supply good. go with the ASUS A8V DELUXE Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard it's not much more if you have the money go with the AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Venice hard drive, cd-rom's and what not, Lite-on and samsung are winners. I like your choice in parts, very good system. Though that motherboard is AGP and the new graphics slot is PCI-E. AGP will be eventually discontinued and no upgrades due to it's lack of bandwidth.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811125444 If you really want that case, go for it, but you don't have to spend that much to get a good case. This is simply a less flashy version for about $60 less. If you're going to upgrade the video card when you do this upgrade, I'd recommend jumping to a PCI Express video card along with a motherboard that has PCIe slots. The 6600GT is a much more powerful chip than the 9800Pro. The 9800Pro was the last gen high-end part, but the 6600GT is still a better choice because it's faster and it is newer. Just like a Radeon X700Pro is going to be better than a 9800Pro...and it's only the mid-range chip from ATi.
id stick to the first processor and mobo you mentioned, really good combo. as for memory, don't spend too much because there is very little difference from extra low latency memory o value unless you're wanting the best. as for hard drives id recommend to get two and put raid 0 on. the 6600GT is pretty good too and its awesome because with the A8V you have built in wifi unusual for a mobo (desktop)
hey some nice stuff there. 1:would an amd 64 3000+ smoke my pentium 4 3.0ghz processor (prescott) 1mb l2 catch? 2: i live in the uk, am i still able to buy stuff off newegg?
im pretty sure it will the 3.73ghz EE can barely beat the 3800 and the new FX-57 practically slaughters intel
try to get a venice or San Diego, they are revised and improved versions, and often contain more technologies such as SSE3 etc.
Currently UK residence can't get stuff form Newegg, not yet....they're planning on expanding their services though.
Yeah, Venice and SanD will cost more, but it's not much more and it's worth it (though I don't believe that the 3500 is SanD yet, maybe I'm wrong).
that all, i will buy off newegg, but i am a little worried becouse i live in the uk, how much will postage and package cost, and how long will it take for it to be deliverd? 2 weeks, 2 years?
check some other sites, newegg is good but sometimes its prices are a bit high, and shipping costs a load. wow, a xaser, i envy you, but i got my vento
Shipping isn't the greatest but I have no prob with the price, it's better than anyother site I've looked at, and you can't beat the selection.
