i am looking into purchasing a gaming laptop to replace my desktop that is gaining its age, this pc will be playing games such as Guild Wars, Halo Pc, Far Cry, and Other graphic intensive games. the spec is here: 15.4" WXGA TFT Screen Intel Pentium-M 750 Processor 1024MB PC4200 533MHz DDR2 80GB Hard Drive Nvidia 6600 256MB PCI-Express DVDR Multi Burner 56K Internal Modem 54g Wireless Enabled But will it be sufficient enough for the games and new ones to hit the scene.
Welcome to Hardware forums! How much will that thing cost! Laptops are not the best thing for gaming... You can buy a desktop which exceeds thoose specs for alot less! (and still buy a decent laptop too!)
well its from nova tech and is 880 pounds, but will it be sufficient enough as my desktop is only, AMd athlon xp pro 3200+ 512mb ram 60gb hard drive
Well, the things you might want to take into consideration are: 1.)Are you going to be on the go with your computing? If not, I'd seriously consider a new desktop box. 2.)Laptops have less upgradeability, and while you probably do have upgradeable graphics slot, if it's not an MXMIII slot, then you'll be unable to upgrade past what you have now. You don't have that type of restriction with a desktop. 3.)In the same vein, hard drives on laptops typically run 5400RPM or even 4200RPM. I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but believe me, a 4200RPM hard drive is painfully slow, even with a quick CPU. This can hurt you in gaming. With a desktop, 7200RPM is pretty much standard, and you can get 10,000RPM internal drives for an extra premium. 7200RPM can be had for laptops, but they're not that common and cost noticeably more.
