As mentioned before, I am off to sunny FL in April.
I have heard that PC bits and peices should be quite cheap in the US of A.

Where is the best place to get stuff (best as in value for money) as in which stores have normally the best deals?

I will probably look at a new HDD. Something like 160-200GB.
Or maybe a new Gcard.... stuff like that.

    Many thanks for looking!

Well, online stores are best, but since you said you'd be in Florida, stopping by Newegg's HQ isn't possible. Your best bets for a brick n mortar store would be Best Buy or Circuit City.

One thing to be careful about with video cards is if you plan on hooking it up to a TV. We use NTSC signaling, while the UK and I think most of Europe, uses PAL.

Not unless your telly is 10 years old (maybe more) they tend to support NTSC, PAL and SECAM over here. Most old videos support NTSC anyway so you could just run it through that.

If you do buy something you might be best off ditching the boxes otherwise you will get hammered at customs... if you get caught of cause!
I know when you get caught after sending stuff through the post import tax works out to be around 30%, I dont know what it would be at the airport... maybe slightly less. It will still work out dirt cheap even if you do get caught!
I got a £700 camera for £300 odd when I went to Florida. I made the mistake of buying it mail order as soon as I got there. I paid for next day delivery and it literally turned up at the hotel 2 1/2 weeks later after we had checked out! We made one last visit to the hotel before we set off to the airport and followed a UPS van most of the way...my camera was in the van thank god!

Thanks both! I will remember BestBuy and Circuit City.
As for TV out.... never again. I made a point of buying a TV-out card last time and it turned out to be completely useless! I never had any intentions of connecting my PC to the TV but I thought that having the TV-out will allow me to connect an analogue camcorder to the PC...

I will probably think of another question or two...
    Thanks anyway!
