    Hi,

I am having some trouble setting up a microphone on my computer. I was wanting to set up a mic so that i could record and send voice messages over msn but am unable to because the mic doesnt detect any sound.

I have tried to follow the help steps on the help and support centre provided on the windows page but am still having trouble as i do not appear to have a sppech recognition tab or option and cannot seem to install it.

I am using windows XP home edition and am just totally confused... Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

    Thanks

assuming your mic is plugged in in the pink connector at the back or front of your pc, double click the volume control in the notification area (where the clock is) click options and check the mic volume control. unmute it and raise the volume.

Also click advanced, then check the "mic boost" option.
