Hi, I was just wondering if someone could help me with a query. I have a computer with Windows XP home on it - I activated it about a year ago. I want to buy a new hard drive and fit it to another of my computers that has been out of action for a while. Basically I want to install my only version of Windows XP on this new computer and activate it; I would then discontinue using my old computer. Is it possible to swap Windows XP to another computer like this?

    Cheers

In short yes, but technically, you'll have to remove XP from the old machine. Since I've got a corporate version (I love student discounts) I've not been very familiar with the XP activation since running the beta, but I think you'd still be good to go without having to call up Microsoft for activation still. Do it again, and I believe you'll have enough of a change that you'll need to call up Microsoft for activation instead of doing it on-line.
