cannot load windows?

bash

Geek Trainee
I have just re-formatted my hard drive. I then changed the boot to CD in BIOS.

I insert the win 98 cd then i reboot the computer, 2 options appear -

1.Boot from Hard disk.
2. Boot from CD.

I imagine option number 2 should be selected, unfortunately the keyboard is disabled?

All 3 lights on the keyboard are flashing i cannot select anything?

Please can someone help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance.

You need to have a Win 98 boot floppy, and boot off of that. It may be dumb, but you might wanna double check to make sure the keyboard is plugged in the right port. Don't worry, I still do dumb stuff all the time, and I've been putting my rigs together for quiet awhile.

Do you have a usb keyboard ?, if so, in the bios there should be an option to enable usb keyboards in dos or something like that. Try to enable it and see what happens.

Thank you for replying.

Firstly i have booted off the bootfloppy disk.

Secondly i have the standard serial keyboard and not usb.

The keyboard is in the right port.

Earlier i received an error from the floppy bootdisk about the config.sys file is corrupt or missing or something along these lines. Is this to blame?

I am at a loss as to why this is happening?

thanks again :-)
