I have 2 pcs at home, both are running WIN XP PRO with SP2 installed. These are networked together with a Realtec Nic Card. Recently I formatted both pc's and installed everything fresh and clean. I ran the network wizard first from the pc which connects directly to the internet with a Siemens DSL modem. The wizard worked fine without giving any errors. Then I ran the wizard from the second pc which doesnt connect directly to the internet. The wizard ran without any errors too! But the last wont connect to the internet. The icon in "Network connection" says "limted or no connectivity" and when I click repair it says "Windows cannot finish repairing the problem because the following action connot be completed: Renewing IP Address" Any suggestions?
from the internet connection to your house, explain where the wires go Like at my house, It goes, to modem<router-directly to 3 pc's. What's yours like?
The DSL modem is connected to one computer and both pc's are connected together with a NIC card i.e by wire. Ive been working like this more than 2 years now! I wonder what happened now? Maybe a NIC is faulty? Hope you understand it !
have you set the correct settings on the second PC? I think you just have the wrong settings! heres a guide from MS http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/learnmore/ics.mspx
