Can't get my HP Laptop to view full screen on TV? Using DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter.

Using Windows 7 64bit.
I have an HP EliteBook 8560p that has a DisployPort on the back. I'm using a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to output the video and sound to the TV.
If If clone the desktop, to see on both the built in display with the TV, I see the cloned version of the desktop on the TV in Full Screen. However, when I set Win7 to extend the desktop onto the TV, I loose full screen. I can't figure out way?
I 've tried changing the resolution but none of the options will go full screen.

Any suggestions?

Is it just the desktop background that isn't full screen or is it the whole desktop?
