Cant increase virtual memory in windows xp sp2

Hello friends,

I have bben using windows Xp sp2(not original ver) and i am unable to increase the virtual memory any body know why?

 

Why do you want to do that? If it bugs you about "virtual memory max too low" or something, then just set it to auto. Windows will then take as much as it needs.

If I'm getting this wrong, maybe you can give us the steps that you're following and what windows throws at you.

i want to increase it because i get amessage my virtual memory too low its set to 744m at present i followed this tutorial
for increasing virtual memory

 

And why doesn't it work? Do you see an error message or are you unable to find that option?

 

it simply dint increase?after i restart my pc?

 

Maybe it would help if you would tell us how you increased the virtual memory, so that we're all on the same page here.

 

right-click on My Computer. -->Choose Properties.-->Click on the Advanced tab. Under Performance, click on the Settings button.-->Under Virtual Memory, click on the Change button.--> custom size i choose an empty drive and put intial size 1000MB and maximum size 2000MB previous was 744MB and 1488MB??

 

I use System managed size and it has never given me any problems.

 

After you've changed the virtual memory size, you need to click the 'Set' button before you click on the 'OK' button.
