Carbon to replace Silicon in Transistors

I'm totally ignorant and uninformed of the technology, but when I think of carbon based transistors I just fill with scepticism.

I'm mostly on the same level as you, granted i did a little research back when the solid state transistors came out, and a little bit from electronics class, but yeah, thats nether here nor there.

Isnt the main advantage of silicon being that its a semiconductor. Carbon isnt that so how could it work?

From the way that they explained it, it was because of how the molecules where arranged, as thats the only way they could manufacture them as transistors in the first place. At least thats what i've gathered, but i may be wrong.
