I worked out a computer for myself though I have to drop my price in a GPU because of my budget. I have searched a bit and as far as I can tell these 2 are between me. Diamond Radeon X1600 512mb XFX Geforce 6800XT 512mb Which is better? I am assuming overall the XFX is despite the lower pipeline. Opinions would be great. unless there is a better card out there for roughly the same price range. Thanks in advance Edit: Also, should i even look into 256mb cards that are better performance than these?

Well I could be wrong but for $150 you can get a better card then both. Like I said im just throwing it out there so get more opinions before you take my advice but you may want to consider this 7600gt or others in the series. BFG Tech Geforce 7600GT BFGR76256GTOCE Video Card - Retail at Newegg.com
the 7600gt will take me further in newer games than the 6800xt? well, i have always been a lover of BFG so i will go with that.
