Hi, I have installed a USB2 compliant cardreader (internal multicard with usb slot) into an old computer usb1.1. When i stick anything into the usb slot the computer resets and continues to reset after the initial bios check until the device is removed. The device only needs to touch the slot not be inserted all the way. So i assume there is a short somewhere in the system. Of the built in USB slots 1 used to work ok and 1 used to short the system now they all do. Please help before i kill my machine Cheers
If its not properly inserted then definately a loose connection shorts wire...You might have fired your card reader as well lyk this... :unsure: Can you check it with other computer if its working or not?
