Hi im new to the forum! i have a major problem with my pc! both of my Cdroms dont work they will not play cd/r/rw but when a cd is inserted the drive loads up as you can see the green light come on. i have tried to use device manager but this doesnt detect a problem with either of the drives. i have worked out for myself what the problem maybe a driver called PXHELP20 has attached its self onto both of the drives unforunately i have tried to rename it. but this makes the problem even worse as both of the cdroms show up to be having a problem (yellow question mark) can anyone help me solve this problem and get rid of pxhelp20? any advice is much very welcome!
Welcome to the forum. You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, or look for drivers online. And 2 questions: What is your operating system? Did you use a installation CD when you installed the drives? I would also looking to see if there is an IRQ conflict, but that generally causes the little icon to change colors.
hi windows XP professional. i dont have the drivers for either cdroms as it was a unit brought from a man who put together pcs!!!
i have tried reinstalling my cdrom. but not my cdrw as i dont have the drivers for it! when i tried with the Cdrom but it still had the driver install with it!
IDE devices do not need drivers! Unless you are running MSDOS, you don't need any special drivers for internal CDROMs, HDDs, etc. Make sure your IDE cables are connected properly and that the jumpers are set right (master at the end of the cable, slave in the middle).
