I have heard that Centrino processors get way better performance vs other processors of the same clock rate, is that true?
From what I understand a Centrino is a revamped Pentium3, which definately outperforms a P4 at the same clock speed (just about everything does). I don't know about Opterons or other AMD64s, though.
I think the M performes even better. If I remember a previous thread (somewhere in here....) correctly. But I could be wrong (it does happen once or twicw a year.....) [ot]IMHO I think the PIII is such an underrated processor.....especialy the coppermine which I have very fond memories of[/ot]
Fact Centrino isn't a type/model of processor, it's all marketing. To have the Centrino name = PentiumM Processor + Intel Wireless + Intel Chipset together = the processor being labeled as "Centrino". So don't be fooled by it. A Centrino is purely a Pentium M. Also, it's proven that the Intel Celeron M processors perform better than the Pentium M processors. Also the Celerons use: 20-25Watts of power, where as the Pentium M use's 50-65Watts. Get a Celeron M not a Pentium M. Keep an eye out in this forum, i'll be posting an article proving Celeron M's Vs Pentium M's = Celeron M is winner.
I'm still living in a Pentium Coppermine world! Don't talk to me about Pentium M's, D's, Pees, whatever! I won't have a clue! You can buy a good Pentium 3 for pennies these days! They are great for college projects etc Ha! So whats going on then? Surely Intel weren't planning that! [ot] I thought everyone was AMD mad in this forum? [/ot]
