I bought q6600 intel dragontail dp35dp 2x2gb corsair xms2 cl4-4-4-12(overclocking) the board cant overclock the corsair so the guy at the store advised me to replace to cheap KVR800D2N5/2G from kingston which do not overclock and work naturaly cl5-5-5-15 800mhz so he said. with the money difference I can get 8gb instead of 4 and add a some money and upgrade q6600 to q9550 I want to know your opinion on the kingston and do you think it would be smarter instead of replacing the ram to replace the board to something that can handle overclocking like gigabyte EP45-UDR3 or EP45-DS4 which can also have 16 GB (and not only 8gb like the dragontail) but that would be more expencive ... (and the store do not have 4gb sticks anyway so I cant get 16gb with them and I already bought there and prefer to buy everything there for warrenty) btw I plan on windows xp 64 and work with sounds that are going to need the ram
Overclocking on an Intel mobo is pretty much rediculous. I would most definately go with a Gigabyte/DFI Lanparty/MSI board. You will have a better, more stable board to work with. If you can find a p35 DS4 board that would be great. Gigabyte has a great reputation for overclocking as does the p35 chipset. Personally I would just go with the p45 chipset as it is a bit more to date and has just about the same overclocking potential.
