Classic games are brutal...

I recently bought the Capcom classics collection for PS2 hopeing to be able do have a fun classic romp after I had positive, if hokey experiences with old Genesis titles like Zero Wing, Michael Jacksons Moonwalker, Final Fight, etc. Well firstly I didn't find the controls to be the greatest but I can't knock it concidering what hardware the games origionated from.
The thing that kills me is the difficulty. It just made me feel like I totally sucked at games. I mean I'm pretty softcore but not to the point where easiest isn't easy enough. It's just sad. Granted I don't have a whole lot patience for lamer titles but I just find the difficulty to be insane on some. But obviously since the AI really wasn't it can only be in a cheap, ''swarm the screen with bullets and dudes'' kind of way. SonSon is probaby the craziest of them all, though Ghost and Goblins is pretty much obsurd as well.
Does anyone agree with me of am I just a softy newschool gamer?
What's the hardest game (from any period) any of you have played?

i suck at games. i've never been much of a gamer. sure, there's the occasional sims or harvest moon (thats hardcore farming, right there!) but other than that, i've never done much. although i am looking forward to spore.

i can't ever keep a wife/husband in the sims 2. there's a whole sea of pixelated fish out there, its hard to stay with just one!

Warcraft: I've completed this game so many times but whenever I try to play against computer or on internet, I loose..I've won just a couple of games against computer when I decide to play the game in easy and 60% health for the computer... I dont know what strategy I need with this game.

Diablo2LOD: Evertime when I open the saved game then I can see all the creatures alive again on the places where I killed them. It takes so many chances for me to finish one era.

King of Fighter98: I love this shit and I am good in it as I've finished this game so many times.

Tekken Tag: Love this game coz with the law and Yoshimishu I have completed its arcade so many times and it takes me very short time to kill my opponents.

That's why you get waypoints so you can just warp to the last place you were at. Oh and I think you mean Acts, not era's Lol.

Yeah Tekken Tag is sweet, Law's a real killer and Beak and Hwoarang are pretty awesome at 10+ hit combos and juggling. Tekken 5 is way harder for some reason:( (story mode is a real killer).

Dont know about others because what I usually do is make myself strong with one person which is Yoshimishu for me. This man has got so many powers and one sword half power is gone, spinners, helicopter, poison etc.... I love this man~! I prefer law as another man because he hits with good speed and use the fire punches and kicks.....

Ok, but it sucks when you see that your man is dying and you cant do anything.......What do you do, just go back again and kill same creatures again to gain the level?

If you're dying, use a healing potion, if you have none, quickly make a town portal and heal, get some more potions and go back to battle. If youre not strong enough simple level up and give 'er hell :P

I do the same but then another problem occurs.. Finding a particular place is very difficult in this game.. You just run..run and check on all the stairs.. in the cages...Ahh! Then atlast you find your enemy who surrounds you with so many people attacking at you...Your blood goes down instantly and you die. and if once you get the better level...You just kill that dragon with just couple of hits.....
