So I just cleaned my CPU fan and had quite some dust in it. So I clean it put it back in and boot up my computer. Went into a game to test if everything was at it was supposed to and I found out that suddenly my computer spikes in games. This did not happen before I did the cleaning of the CPU fan. Also I noticed that my CPU fan is running quite loudly even though no additional programs is running.

What can I have done wrong?

Was this the processor fan that you took out or just a case fan. If it was the processor fan, you may want to take it back out, clean the base where it sits on the processor as well as the top of the processor, then reapply the thermal paste. It sounds like it is running hot, which may be why the fan is spinning faster as well.

I cleaned the processor fan. I'm not a big computer geek (yet :)) so I just figured out that those who have built my PC have not done a very good job putting thermal paste between the heatsink and the processor. Unfortunately I don't have any thermal paste at my house and my local computer store didn't have either. Their argument for not having it was "Not enough people build their own computers". Which was kinda weird I thought. So now I just ordered some off the internet and I'll see how it goes. Hopefully it will be here by tomorrow.

    Thanks for helping out.
